Traces/ U-topia is a solo performance with organic materials such as charcoal and water. The perfomer is moving with the vocal support of the audience who pronounces non-verbal language that resembles lament or similar.

The work encouraged our willingness to share our emotions around the theme of loss and death. Here, the loss could be interpreted both as the end of a relationship for natural or unnatural reasons, the deterioration of our belief system and the degradation of humanitarian values in our global social and political context.

Through a series of actions centered around the materiality and the time’s passage the performer is enacting the inert qualities of charcoal having as a result to create marks in time and space.

The performance took place at entonoLab in collaboration with sound artist and composer Vago Tedosio.
